Lost at Sea - Lunagirls

Sometimes I get to kill two birds with one stone, and a jigsaw piece swap coincided with working with Luna Girls collage sheet Bathing Beauties here.  Some of the Bathing Beauties are in ocean scenes, and I recently acquired an octopus die that I've been itching (not dieing) to use.  So, our Bathing Beauty is staring out to sea, awaiting her sailor lover's ship's return.

The jigsaw pieces are roughly 150 x 150mm (6x6"), and the challenge was to use black with them.  The back side of the jigsaw pieces were coated in black gesso, then Paynes Grey, then some of it a layer of pthalo blue, a layer of Jo Sonja's Decor crackle, then a final layer of Paynes grey.

The Sizzix skull die has lots of "cracks" when cut out (from a drinks coaster), just begging for the octopus and some seaweed to be growing through it.  Bits of flowersoft and random splotches of paint add to the texture.

The Ship Silhouette stamp is from Silver Crow Creations
Some Seashells are from beachcombing expeditions, but most of them are from shell necklaces.
The gleam most noticeable top left is the crackle.  Down the bottom was blue-tinted lava gel medium, and I tried to keep it thick enough to bed the seashells into.  However I later had to re-glue quite a few down again with Helmar 450 glue.

Alas, from the angle of the ship, it is clear that her sailor will not be returning,
but has fed the fishes and is now home to an octopus and it's vege garden.

There's still time for you appease Evil Drowner Froggy, and perhaps win your own Lunagirl prize, with your own dark, sad, weird make.

Hmmmmm, errrrrrr, ok!

You know how you can be totally planning something have it almost ready to the tee and decide to wait until the next morning to finish it off?  Well, of course, then it ends up in the Tardis and you are a week behind/ahead of yourself!  So that's the long and short of the theory and here is the remains of my little TP album :)

The cover with its little card that slides right into the TP opening :)  Skeletons and little cat from Lunagirl Halloween Digital Collage Sheet #4 who has so fabulously sponsored us again this month! and all red stamping with bargain bin stamps, unknown sets of stamps on sale, Smeared Ink, and VivalasVegaStamps!  Oop, a Dylusion's set of stamps from last 31 days of Halloween that I won!

On the back of card one is a bigger kitty from the set with the word Boo! and stamping and some washi tape and lots of distress inks and Tim Holtz's Paper pad.

The second page has a wonderful spider web full of spiders also from the collage sheet by Lunagirl with some yummy red flies and some webs and such stamped around.  The card has a die cut chandelier and a ticket for the big day.

The back of this one has an amazing guy...or just another talking head :)  from the collage kit word included.   Centi/milli is from ButterSide Down Stamps.

Last page with some sad guys who might have taken a sip of the devil's nectar or took a hit of poison from the loves of their lives!  Skellies all from the collage sheet and stampings from all the lovlies already mentioned!

Please some by and drop off your entry with the frog man!  Ribbittymuwhahaha......Right

Luna Girls Faces

I keep coming back to a Luna Girls mini collage sheet in my creations.  I was partway through a graveyard piece when I had to stop for this journal page, which I shared in their July blog travel-themed challenge:

So back to the graveyard journal page:
The background shows the influence from taking Seth Apter's Card play class - start with black gesso, and everything on top seems to pop.  In fact, these gals have popped right out of their graves.
I punched each one out with a slightly larger punch, retaining a halo around each.  For each length of wire I formed a circle the same diameter (wrapped round a paint pot lid) then twisted the two ends, adding beads every so often.  The wire loop was slightly larger than the pictures.  Typically resin is used, but I tried pouring medium, which I poured over the cutout and the wire loop.  It worked, giving a transparent halo between the picture and the wire.
Needed a bit of help while the gel medium dried keeping the wire and chippie to the background:

I used Tombstone Border chipboard from Creative Embellishments painted black then various interference paints to colour.  The Spellbinder die "Twigs Unite" seems to have been discontinued, alas.  To make it stand out from the background, I had to outline it with a silver pen.
Yep, that's flowersoft at the bottom of the tombstones.  Sweet, cute, flowersoft mwahaha!!!
So you CAN have these sweet images, and use them in a darker, weirder way.

She's Baaack! September with Lunagirls!

Yoohoo!  September is here bringing maybe some cooler weather to some of us or warmer to some of us but always one month away from Halloween!  And to add to the excitement we have the fabulous Lunagirl back as a returning sponsor!  We all want you to know all you can about Lunagirl so you can fall in love with the products, too!

Here is a little bit about Karen, the awesome owner of Lunagirl Images!

"My name is Karen, owner of Lunagirl Images. In 2004, after collecting vintage ephemera for most of my life, I started digitizing and restoring images and designing digital supplies for artists and crafters (my husband collected antique books and prints, so we had quite a house full!)

At Lunagirl.com (and in my etsy shop) I currently offer you several hundred unique digital collage sheets and dozens of themed craft CDs -- over 30,000 images so far! And all of my CD collections are now available by instant download as well!

Lunagirl Images are a great resource for card making, scrapbooking, jewelry making, and much more, easy to use, carefully researched and curated, all thoughtfully organized and lovingly restored, ready to you to use in your projects. I love altering and embellishing these beautiful and fascinating images and seeing what my customers create with them.

In addition to digital art and design, I enjoy reading history books, bellydancing, cooking, reading Tarot, and sewing with my vintage Singer. I'm also blessed to be the mom of two teenaged boys.

If you're looking for something in particular in vintage style, feel free to email me at info@Lunagirl.com!"

We are so excited Karen was able to sponsor us this month, thank  you Karen!
We hope all of you can show her some shop love :) Play along here and in Karen's Facebook Group!

CT Kim had lots of fun playing with Photoshop Elements and creating this digital collage using the Sepia Tarot Cards sheet:

CT Anne is such a tease with this small snippet...more to see come back if you dare!

CT Granne, had great fun creating pocket letter with LunaGirls "Dance Macabre"

Totally cool sheet of wicked images....

CT Nan is up to no good with the toilet paper!  Nope, not throwing on people's houses but using the empty (sanitized!) rolls for a mini album with a early jump on Halloween.

To see the rest of the album come back and see us on Friday and she will share (if she can wait that long!) all of the pages and tags full of Halloween goodness from Lunagirl. The front page is using a part of the collage sheet Halloween #4 Digital Collage Sheet.

Now it is your turn to show us all those fabulous projects you have on the table right now and you know that darn frog gets awfully full of mean attitude when he can smell Halloween goodies this close!

So drop off your makes with the frog and we will visit your place for a snack and some comments!
