Day 28, 31 Days of Halloween - hocus pocus

Welcome to a 22nd day of the 31 DOH
For today, I made a very bony tag.

Squashed paint, gesso, embossing, rub-ons,
stampping (stamps from LCD: Dancing Skeletons, Bird Bones) ...

Hmmm, I wonder if he just made the bird to be a skeleton or
is he making magic to create wings, so it could fly again.

If you are doing the hop, you'll find the road
on the sidebar ---->>>

and a wee reminder to link up your
weird, dark, alternative  creation HERE,
for a change to win this dancer:

Hook yourselves some Skulls

Back in June I tried to hook you up into giving flowers for Skull Appreciation Day Now it's time to hook the skulls in time for Day of the Dead.  They were a great hit as "charms" to give my fellow students & the tutors at Art Is You Down Under in 2014 (was it THAT long ago???)

I came across the original pattern  on the 'net, and tweaked it in a few places particularly so all the teeth happen at once in the middle of the last row.  It's a very forgiving pattern - if you miss the odd 2 tr in 1 tr, or only 6 instead of 7, it won't really matter.

Finished size depends in the thickness of yarn and crochet hook you use.  Again, I was brought up on English terminology.  Any Americans, dc is sc (symbol x), treble is dc (symbol T ). I have no idea what Americans call a half treble (symbol T ).
1.  Chain 24.  DC in 13th chain from hook, slipstitch in last stitch.
2.  Catching in the tail as you go (saves sewing it in later), 20 dc in first circle, 20dc in second circle.  Slipstitch into start.  Change yarns here if you want different-coloured eye sockets like the orange & cream skull in the picture.
3.  Chain 3 (= treble), treble in next 4 dcs, 2 half-treble in next dc, half treble in next dc, dc in next 5 dcs, half treble in next dc, 2 half trebles in next dc, treble in next 4 dcs.
Chain 4  Miss last 4 dcs of circle, and  next 4 dcs in next circle. (nose!)
Treble in next 4 dcs, 2 half trebles in next dc, half treble in next dc, dc in next 5 stitches, half treble in next dc, 2 half trebles in next dc, treble in next 5 dcs.  Slipstitch into top of chain 3.
4.  Chain 3 (= treble), treble in next 4 stitches.  2 treble in next stitch, 2 half trebles in next stitch, half treble in next stitch, dc in next 7 stitches, 2 half trebles in next stitch, half treble in next stitch, treble in next 4 stitches.  4 treble in the chain 4.  treble in next 3 stitches.
Work teeth here:  Chain 4 (= treble, chain 1), turn work, miss 1 stitch, treble in next treble, chain 1, miss 1 treble, treble in next stitch - repeat to create 4 teeth (ch 1 gaps).
Chain 4 (= treble + chain 1), turn work, treble in next treble, chain 1 treble in next treble until 3 tooth gaps.  Chain 4, slipstitch in 3rd chain of loop below, slipstitch in next chain and in top of treble.  This brings you back down to where you started the teeth.
Treble in next treble.  Half treble in next stitch, 2 half trebles in next stitch, dc in next 7 stitches, half treble in next stitch, 2 half trebles in next stitch, 2 trebles in next stitch, treble in next 5 stitches.  Slip stitch into top of chain 3.

If you want  a swing loop, chain 5, slipstitch in top of chain3 again.

With or without loop, cut thread, pull through last stitch.  Darn the loose end in, or keep it for stitching into something else later.
I suppose I'd better invent a cro-frog to keep Evil Froggy from beating me up for the pink background and watermark!  OR... you could save me by posting your weird creepy makes back on Day 1

Otherwise run FAST to the next link in the 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop.

Scrabbling for a Song~Day 2 31 DOH

It started with a kiss...  my wallet kissing a load of Junque Shoppes, on what is normally a 4-hour drive to my daughter's family, but which added over 100 km and 4 hours travel time.  Looking forward to a cosy evening with daughter, I had forgotten Friday night is her Colouring At Home evening.  Oooh, the challenge!  I don't colour, I'd brought nothing to craft with, I had NOTHING.... or did I?  My wallet had opened for a scrabble set, which I got for the letters.  So there's my canvas.  Walking past a Rock shop earlier I'd picked up a free copy of NZ Musicians magazine - and that was on the way to a decent art shop, where I'd picked up a couple of water-soluble oil paints and some Atelier tinted black acrylics.  So I borrowed a paintbrush and glue stick, and started picking "ransom" words and letters, collaging onto the scrabble board, and meeting daughter's colouring-in friends.  I also carefully cut out a guy with a microphone, used him as a stencil and mask as well as collaging him.  So I brought it home this far along:
We have farewelled a few great musicians in recent times... David Bowie, Elvis (again???) and it's nearly John Lennon's anniversary, so the scrabble-ouija board invited their shades along to this song fest.
Now about that Ghostopus - did you find it on Day 1?  A Spellbinder die on some of that foam plastic-y packaging, a double-letter score for the G and the S, and a triple word score all over should match all those tentacles.
Mad Rat have witches flying everywhere, including across this board.  Sponging off some of the water-soluble oil paint freed up the depth of colour so you can see there's a witch in that ghostly-green silhouette.  You'll be hearing more about Grumbacher another month.

Third Stone Stamps have a huge selection of skeletons to dance and flip and laze about, including the cat dancing under the octopus.  The Rubber Dance feather makes a pretty good skeletal spine too.  It's all about recycling here, and re-interpreting, too.
I'm sorry about the bilious pink watermarks - my teamies insisted we use pink through this Halloween month, and I don't "do" pink, so I hope they're satisfied!
So if you hear music on the wind, or from deep inside the planet, watch the wall my darling, while the "gentlemen" sing by.
And if you're tempted to look, go look at the next person in the blog hop - on the sidebar.

CT kim
"Hotel Hell" digital art kit by Marta van Eck found at Mischief Circus
Does this Hotel have many return visitors? Hmmm..off to make a reservation...

And Asylum Anne is running round looking for inspiration, throwing out random letters hoping for words that will inspire her.  And her "ouija" board scrabbled around to help, and connected with... some dead singers?
So many credits to roll, we'll come back later in the month.  Meantime, can you find the Ghostopus?

CT Nan is frantically trying to follow the fabastic CT Anne with her interpretation of the song "Hotel California"....such a lovely place...you can check out anytime you want but you can NEVER LEAVE!!  Using "The Curse Splatters" from FoxySquirrel and some elements from "The Old Haunt" set from Tumblefish Studios at Mischief Circus!

Seems some of our great minds thought along some very similar lines!  And to drive CT Anne nuts...some of us will be challenging ourselves to include some form of PINK in our ghoulish creations!  Can you hear her screaming???  Listen closely..maybe tonight when you try to have "sweet" dreams you can hear her anguished wails????

Since this IS a very special month, team DiD is
running crazy wild without any sponsor - and with all of them, mwahahhahaa
BUT, there will be a challenge winner and this happy
dancer is dancing on his way to the winner...

Hmmm, wonder how he likes pink????
Muwhahahaha!

A simple tombstone today stolen from a local graveyard.

It is slightly larger than an ATC. The bat, raven and tombstone are die cut from cardboard. The spooky bat face is Smeared Ink and heat embossed in black.

You still have a few days to link up with us and Evil Froggy knows you have made lots of creepy weird odd things this month...

Day 26 of the 31 Days of Halloween - Alfred Hitchcock Necklace

Happy day 26 of the 31 Days of Halloween hosted by Smeared Ink!  Please check out their blog for all the rules and details of the event.  The roll for the Wicked Bloggers is on the side bar so that you can visit them also!

CT Nan here with a stamp that I absolutely adore from Carmen's Veranda and another fav one from Lost Coast  Designs.  Alfred Hitchcock Standing is one of my all time favorites, ever!  So, it was kinda hard to cut off part of his body to make my pendant.  I added the "Grunge Tree" as a background with a stormy sky made with Distress Inks.

Now, I have stated how easy I thought it would be to solder and have realized it is not easy not one bit for an uncoordinated person such as me!  But some plexi glass and the supplies, I had to give it my best shot and it is not perfect but I love it!  I added some do dads and beads to the chain and am very happy with it.

Come on back tomorrow and have a cup of goo, we have plenty left over from the spa tub ..Buwahahaa!  And keep that blasted Frog happy....enter and enter our challenge again!

Day 22 of the 31 Days of Halloween - A Box

It is down to day 22 of the 31 Days of Halloween hosted by Smeared Ink!  We are joining the other Wicked Bloggers listed on the side bar and showing you something new every single day!  Check out their blog for rules and details.

It is my turn again to show you something new. And it is a box. Yep, a box.

It is a rather nice box.  It has a stamp from the "Morte" set from Smeared Ink embossed in black on top.  Some nice papers and the orange polka dots are stamped with "The Grunge Tree" from Lost Coast Designs.  It does have a wire clasp as if to keep us out or something in?

Oh, now I remember why I needed that clasp!  Just my pet zombie hand popping out to say hello to all you visitors to the house.  The only really scary part is that if this zombie hand touches water it grows and grows!  So he stays in his box wrapped in velveteen far away from the water.

So bye bye for today from me and my pet zombie hand!

But don't forget our challenge is still going on so come by and drop off your entry!

Day 21 31 Days of Halloween~Destination Unknown

Welcome to Day 21 of the 31 Days of Halloween! This is an annual Smeared Ink event and we are so thrilled to be playing along as Wicked Bloggers. The Wicked Blogger challenge is to post a new creation each day during October that contains a stamped image, digi or rubber! Check out all the rules and prize details at Smeared Ink.

There is a fabulous blog roll to follow and Hop to it! Find it on the side bar :)

Today is my turn, CT kim.

"Destination:Unknown" Postcard sized canvas, mixed media

For this postcard I had lots of fun trying some new things, well new-to-me :)
I made the background by swiping several Distress Inks on the mixed media paper. I let it dry them sprinkled and misted with water to blend them a bit. Once dry again, I misted with DecoArt Mister Shimmer White and some splatters of the same. This helped to tone it down in spots and make it blend more.

The balloon stamp is Hampton Art. I wanted a creepier version so I added my skull stamp given to me by the fabulous CT Granne. The skull is made by Finnstamper. This was the same stamp used on our CT postcard swap, I love it! Both images are heat embossed in black and colored with Distress Inks.

Love to hear what you think!

Remember to come back and link up your weirdly odd and creepy makes with us in our challenge!
